One of the reasons I started the Vintage Recipe Project was because I longed for my own family recipes handed down from generation to generation. Sadly my mother and grandmother never handed any recipes down to me.

Stuffed Vanilla Pear Jam Scones

As soon as I tasted this batch of Pear Vanilla Jam I couldn't wait to use it in a recipe. For some reason I thought wow wouldn't this taste great inside a scone. I'm not joking. I really did think that after I tasted it for the third time. And I have never had a stuffed scone before so this would be a kitchen adventure for me.

Homemade Vanilla Extract

Vanilla Extract.jpg

I mentioned a while back about buying some vanilla beans to make homemade vanilla extract and wanted to show you how easy it is to make. There are tons of blog posts out there with directions. Everyone's directions are the same the only difference in my blog post is that I didn't run out and buy expensive bottles for mine. I used what I had on hand.

Once I knew I was going to make this I started collecting small bottles when I went out to the thrift stores. And since I make jam I also had small canning jars on hand.

Vintage Recipe Project: Zserbo Szelet A Hungarian Dessert

Vintage Recipe Zserbo Szelet.jpg

In one of the vintage recipe binders I own, I found a lovely piece of parchment paper with a recipe written on it. The name of the recipe was not written in English (and I doubt there is an English translation for it because I never came across one...)
