Retro Thanksgiving Cupcakes

These carrot cake cupcakes came about when the author was feeling nostalgic about her childhood Thanksgiving celebrations. After topping the cupcakes with orange cream cheese frosting ("Not the traditional orange but the orange of the couches I see in all my parents photos when they were children"), she decorates them with edible pearls to give them a chic retro feeling.
