In a romantic twist of fate that left Lynn and many others (including myself) feeling a little crushed, Prince William and Kate Middleton decided to tie the knot. (Hey - don't judge! Who wouldn't want to attach Princess to the beginning of their name?!)

Luckily, Lynn's "I'll Never Be A Princess Pies" are the perfect pick-me-up. These puff pastry hand pies are filled with cinnamon-sugared pears and cranberries and baked to royal perfection. Now just take a bite, close your eyes, and imagine you're at Buckingham Palace...

This year, I made this simple and elegant appetizer before Thanksgiving dinner.  Warm, flaky and buttery puff pastry with a soft, creamy and melted Brie center?  And please don't forget the layer of sweet raspberry preserves on top. Serve with various fruits, French baguette, or an assortment of crackers.  My dinner guests were anxiously awaiting this addition to the kitchen table. Believe me, it didn't disappoint.

I absolutely LOVE figs - especially fresh ripe seasonal figs - yum! Maybe it's their subtle sweet flavor, or their high mineral content - whatever it is I know I can eat a ridiculous amount in one sitting.

La Fuji Mama spends a week experimenting with different kinds of fresh California figs, and comes up with these quick, easy, and impressive little tarts. She says: "Figs and cheese make a divine combination, and then if you add a bit of pork to the mix, whether it be bacon, pancetta, or prosciutto, you get the gold medal trio of savory fig combinations." I'm in!

I know it's gonna be a shocker, but this sweet-toothed baker occasionally eats savory stuff too. (Not that anyone should care, really.)

Puff the magic pastry looks absolutely mouthwatering here in a magnificent shell-form made even better with the addition of not only asparagus, but quinoa too. As Ina Garten would say, how bad could that be?
